  1. DMG Mori Tour - May 5th, 2023

DMG Mori’s tour will take place in the afternoon of May 5th. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP here. Do note that you would be required to present your passport. Since DMG Mori is in Davis (3601 Faraday Ave, Davis, CA 95618), attendees would have to go to the site on their own, so transportation would not be provided. We hope to see you there!

  1. Towards a Deeper Understanding of Laser Powder Bed Fusion (MAE Seminar) - Today

Speaker: Fred M. Carter III of DMG Mori and Northwestern University Metal additive manufacturing is becoming common place in many industries, but specifically in aerospace and medical where production of critical parts such as heat exchangers and orthopedic implants yields significant improvements and design freedom over incumbent manufacturing techniques. Head over to Bainer 1062 at 4pm for the seminar today!

  1. Sparkz Tour - a Saturday in May

A planned tour in Sparkz is likely to take place in May! Be on the lookout for that. Sparkz is a relatively new company that started late 2019. The energy startup challenges China’s dominance of next generation energy storage. It is commercializing the only high energy-density cobalt-free, lithium-ion battery made in America. Sparkz has completed the transfer of 6 patents from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, while continuing its groundbreaking research and development focused on re-engineering the rest of the battery supply chain.
